Globetrotter inspires its passionate clientele four times a year in its own print magazine with travel reports by and for adventurers, globetrotters and world discoverers – and has been doing so since 1982. Authentic reports of “unbroken wanderlust and unquenchable curiosity about foreign destinations, cultures and people” encourage people all over Switzerland to travel the world themselves. The team around Sabine Zaugg soon set itself the goal of presenting an offer on the digital channel as well, without reproducing the entire magazine electronically. With maatoo a suitable tool was found which also offers many analysis possibilities.

In maatoo, e-mails and campaigns were created and a registration form for the newsletter was integrated into the website. For this purpose a short code snippet is copied into the page. By sending story newsletters, the editorial team creates added value for subscribers and thus builds a bridge between print and online. Sent automatically to all existing and new contacts, the small team saves time when sending e-mails. Thanks to detailed newsletter statistics on opening and click rates, Zaugg analyzes the behavior of the readers and adapts future content to the needs of the customers. The tracking code from maatoo was embedded in the magazine’s website to track subscribers’ behaviour even after the click. This gives the editors a comprehensive picture of their readers, something that could only be achieved with much greater effort in a purely offline magazine.
